The dinosaur experts at the Royal Tyrrell Museum are coming out of prehistoric times to catch up on twenty first century technology.
The Royal Tyrrell Museum is now offering the opportunity to live vicariously through paleontologists through social media networks like Twitter and Facebook.
"It all started last year when Caleb Brown came on board at the museum and then decided to start using social media to promote discoveries and field work," explained curator of dinosaur paleoecology at the Royal Tyrrell Museum Dr. Francois Therrien.
Many other researches have started to use the technology, including Therrien himself.
"To go out into the field with a paleontological crew that can not be easily done, so by the magic of social media, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram now it's possible for a field crew to go in the field, snap photos of what they're doing, the excavation, prospecting, looking for fossils and all of that is uploaded online."
