The Village of Morrin, north of Drumheller, is getting ready to party.

It's been 95 years since Morrin was incorporated and they're celebrating with a homecoming August 7-9.

Visitors can register at the arena on the Friday evening and get together over an adult beverage, but the real action starts on Saturday, August 8.

"Breakfast is from 8:00 until 10:00 (and) the parade runs at 11:00; it starts in the Starland County yard in the north of Morrin," noted Homecoming Committee chair, Sharon White."If you want a float or anything in it you have to call Heather Bitz (403-820-1428) or Daryl DeMille (403-321-0235)."

"After the parade is, of course, visiting at the arena, there will be bread making at the sod house (and) the fire department is putting on a fireball competition," she added. "There will be horse and buggy rides, there will be train rides, there's an opportunity to go out to the Grenvilles and have a buffalo tour (and) the school will be open for tours."

While it's not yet a centennial celebration, White remarked that it's probably good practice for organaziers for 2020.

"We're also hoping to have a new history book in place by the centennial in five years," she told 99.5 Drum FM. "So we're taking information."
